Opus Lubricants sponsor charity memorial tractor run

Opus Lubricants staff took part in a sponsored tractor 30 mile drive on Sunday 5th August 2018 in memory of Patsy Cooney who was part of one of our main distributors in Cumbria, H.A.C. Agri Services Ltd.

Glenn MacPherson, Sales Director for Opus Lubricants, drove a tractor (with great assistance from his co-driver ‘Toffee’ the dog) which was lent to him by Bob Chappelhow, an Opus Lubricants customer of HAC’s.

Allan Briggs, Area Sales Manager at Opus Lubricants, went as a co-driver with David Halliday in a tractor sponsored by Handy Concrete (an Opus customer for whom we recently supplied HAC with an AdBlue pump to make deliveries to their 4-5 quarries).

Donation to charity

The event was in memory of Pat Cooney, husband of Joanne, who sadly died last year after battling with cancer. It was very well attended, with over 50 tractors involved in the ‘run’. Together with the entry fees and money raised from the prize draw, over £1,400 was raised and donated to the chosen local charity Carlisle & Eden Mind who campaign for better mental health.

A 205lt HT Plus 10W30 Transmission Fluid (multifunctional transmission and hydraulic fluid for tractors and plant) was donated on behalf of Opus Lubricants as the main prize draw which was conducted by Glenn and Allan at the lunchtime break in the village hall at Langwathby.

The sponsorship and contribution made by Opus was very well appreciated and recognised by HAC and their customers, as well as the charity contribution. There was a follow up picture and short article in the local paper ‘The Herald’ on Saturday 11th August.
